Star Wars: Lords of the Black Sands

Star Wars d20

Where:UNCC Campus, Denny

Subtitle: The Tiger, the Sun and the Sand

This campaign was never completed but came to a good stopping point. It too was tied to the Lords of the Expanse but not in it. Eventually, they were supposed to be, but it never got there. The concept was that the characters were nobody-smugglers from Soccorro and I would start them out there. I tied Soccorro into the Sisar Run and made it all a complex underground political battle between Black Sun (which had its talons in the previous LotE adventures), Hutts and the powers of Soccorro.

The Mind's Lost Legacy

Dragonstar d20

Where:UNCC Campus, Denny

A campaign that I started and again did not finish, this is basically D&D in space. I really enjoyed this campaign setting because it had the best of both worlds. I found myself easily coverting D&D stuff to the setting, making dungeons in asteroids and temples into space stations.

The inspiration of this campaign revolved around the crystal dragons, psionics, and how these two elements fit in a predomaently magical work where the dragons ruled. Crystal dragons were just a myth and there was talk of them returning. Strange Orbs kept turning up and eventually will lead the players to the realization that the Crystal Dragons were more than a myth. How would that have effected the power structure of the Dragon Houses? I wanted to explore that but never got to.

I started this campaign when D&D 3.0 had just came out. Much to my dismay, while I was still running it, 3.5 came out. Not being all that familiar with the differences, I was nervous about converting. If I were to go back, though, I would either do 3.5 or maybe even Pathfinder.

Losely linked to the Dragon Campaign but more about the consquences of the first Lords of the Expanse campaign, this was my first d20 campaign (1st and 2nd edition) and second Lords of the Expanse Campaign. We kind of evolved into d20 as Star Wars d20 evolved around us.

I introduced several different things in this campaign, including a lost region of LotE space, Immortals, Psionics d20 and a Dragonoid template. Not everything was balanced.

Star Wars d6

Where:UNCC Campus, Denny

My last d6 campaign, d20 took over in the middle of this one. This was my first Lords of the Expanse campaign. I LOVE THIS STAR WARS SETTING! This was very closely tried into the Dragon War campaign, taking place around the same time. If there character's in this campaign failed, thigns would have been different in the Dragon War campaign.

The beast of all campaigns. I had 8 players, each player playing 3 to 4 characters. This took a little over 2 years to complete. And I of course could not be satisfied with what they published. I added a ton of stuff: a Hutt crime boss (linked to a Hutt from the previous campaign), Noble Houses, and a whole host of subtle changes other elements.

Star Wars d6

I finally bit the bullet and got into Star Wars d6. I did not like it when I first tried First Edition. Second Edition was definitely and improvement and in that year, I proceeded to empty the local Media Play of all its Star Wars books.

This was my first Star Wars campaign, and my first experience in d6. I had just finished my Shatterzone campaign and that game along with Masterbook was losing favor with the WEG fans, so I moved over to Star Wars. d6 seemed to be a system best suited for my GMing style, but retrospectively it has its flaws.

This campaign was started with a concept I explored back in my Early Days in Star Frontiers (Stellar Dragons). Tying them into the Jedi was not all that hard so I created an plotline that followed along side the classic movies behind the seens.

A portion of the campaign was "hijacked" by some players by them bringing in a totally different aspect into Star Wars - Anime, specifically The Dirty Pair. I indirectly tied them into the Stellar Dragon plot, so their antics were interwoven into an epic, making things fairly interesting.

My first game science fiction system outside of Star Frontiers. We had some great characters venture into a campaign that I made up as I went, chasing down the HLA and their masters, the true Hykosians and their servents, the "big uglies".

I ran this for a year or so and then played in a game with Neil Spicer as GM, me playing Rosh.

The Coreman Legacy (Tharkold Campaign)

Dark Conspiracy

Where:UNCC Guild

Several years back (early 90s), I put together an idea for a campaign after runing a few strung together one-shots in Dark Conspiracy. It started with a couple of short adventures I threw together and then an adventure out of Challenge Magazine #62, Kafka (which now can be found on Dr. Michael C. LaBossiere's web site http://www.opifexphoenix.com/).

The THEME to the campaign was corruption and there are things even worse then the known Dark Minions. Tharkold was a totally separate "Core" dimension that was breaking through and corrupting our own, including corrupting the Dark Minions that were already here. I was using examples of the corruption of what we hold sacred by the Dark world of America as a contrast to the further corruption the Brothers of Tharkold could bring.

It was to be a journey across America to find and destroy the 7 Coreman Devices that would bring forth the Tharkold dimension. THey would alsdo face the 7 Brothers of Tharkold, creatures inspired by Tharkold source boooks (TORG RPG) and Hellraiser.

I never got to finish the campaign because I simply could not continue with a certain couple of players. I got through to the second device and just had to stop. I was stringing along more of the Challenge Magazine adventures and linking them all to my central plot. Dr. Michael C. LaBossiere has several good adventures that I was able to work with.
