Modest turnout in a down economy, 45 people, counts as an average year.

Super 8

It felt like a Speilberg classic with a little of Abrams darkness thrown in. Pretty good movie over all.

SCARAB 2012

I had a really good time. Played Savage Worlds, Posthumous Z, and Dungeon Twister. All AWESOME games!

The Many Thoughts of Ron

2011 in review

Me

2011 just did not seem like it was going to be an exciting year for me. The number "2011" just did not seem exciting.  With the Big O in office, things were getting worse and worse already.  As much as I tried on Facebook, I could not change many of leftist friends minds on him.  So I left it to the Big O to speak for himself and boy, did he.  However, did change quite a bit for me in 2011 and despite a lot of the bad things going on, it was still a pretty good year...

A Geek-daddy's Dilemma

January 02, 2012 Posted by Ron

Sci-Fi

I am having a geek-parent dilemma that probably means nothing to anyone else, but it has profound meaning to me.  My kids are getting into Star Wars.  Keegan at 4 YO and Taylor at 7 YO both have asked to watch the movies.  Keegan wants more and more toys.  Taylor so far just wants to know more about it.  I am sure she will want toys or books soon too.As a geek dad, this has many meanings to me.  It's should be a great thing for most geek dads and at one time, I real...

A Nation of Wimps?

Sheep or Wolves?

November 22, 2011 Posted by Ron

Wiffle Ball

A few of things have occurred in the past 24 hours that have me thinking ... are we raising a nation to be a bunch of wimps.
The first thing that happened was something fairly stupid, cheesy and definitely not new, but it's been bothering me for a while.  Taylor Swift is a person my daughter is starting to look up to and right now, I do not object to it.  I watched a 60 Minutes thing on her last night, because my daughter wanted to see it.  Her one song - a song I can never seem ...

Sad state of affairs!

Life to a Liberal: Life is not fair! There should be no consequences of bad behavior! We should live the way we want to!
Life to an actual conservative: You have the right to be stupid!  You have the right to do bad behavior!  But You also have the right to suffer the consequences without effecting my ability to enjoy my freedoms at the same time, including the freedom to earn and spend my money the way I see fit.

This former philosophy is what has gotten to where we are. They ask...

Dark Signs and Portents for this nation

October 04, 2011 Posted by Ron

News

A new political movement is starting to swirl through out the nation. They are being called the liberal version of the Tea Party, protesting corporate greed, the Supreme Court decision to make money part of free speech (in their words - the decision to make corporations people), and several other laws and decisions that they attribute to the current Great Recession as it is being called now.  This movement is calling itself Occupy Wallstreet or Occupy the Streets.
They are popping u...

Leftists and their Arrogance

What is wrong with this country

September 27, 2011 Posted by Ron

News

The absolute arrogance of the left astounds me.
Today, N.C. Gov. Bev Perdue suggested suspending Congressional elections for two years so that Congress can focus on economic recovery and not the next election. (here)

On top of that, Peter Orszag, Director of the Office of Management and Budget for the Obama Administration asked  "Why we need less democracy." (here)
This epitomizes what is wrong with the left.  They would be happy to ram their socialist agenda down our throats if ...

Why is human nature so LAZY!

August 23, 2011 Posted by Ron

News

A radio host here has crusading since he has been on the air against something called the "jersey" people wear in politics. What that means is that people attach themselves to a specific "jersey" i.e. team instead of thinking of themselves, picking candidates based on issues and voting intelligently. People will vote the "R jersey" despite a candidates stance or vote on certain non-"R jersey" issues. Like one republican here voted for the recent bail outs,...

Journal of Father Johnson

Inspired by a Deadlands One shot

Gaming

It was dark and mysterious night that I, Father Sam "Otis" Johnson, found myself in yet another strange and dark circumstance. My companions slept around the camp fire while I said the last of my evening prayers. Vendetta Cortez, our Latina gunslinger with a temper to mach the fire from her guns, had just finished shining her weapons and putting them away. I had to say a prayer for strength to keep my eyes of lust off her, because she was definitely a site. Our injun, Plays With F...

Action Filled Dream!

Influenced by Today's Events

August 12, 2011 Posted by Ron

Me

I had a crazy and intense dream last night that was very vivid and emmersive. This was obviously spurred on by recent senseless riots in Britain, along with the economic stuff going on here, and the ever present terrorist threat that we are all still paranoid about. (who said the terrorists didn't win?)
I was with my family but we were in a house very similar to my old house in Jersey. We were all watching as riots all across America were breaking out. But they were not in the form of the riot...

My Daughter's Horse Camp

August 08, 2011 Posted by Ron

Family

My daughter Taylor spent the week last week in heaven for a 7 year old girl who likes horses. She spent the week at a horse camp where she got to adopt a horse, and learn to ride it on her own. She has always had a passion for horses and despite not always having the money, I have vowed to make sure she can pursue her passion in some way or another. I am not trying to toot my own horn or sound like the noble parent but I want my kids to have it a little better than I had.
However, I think...
