For a very short time, I ran Alternity. It's a good system. Unfortunately I got involved just as it was dying in the eyes of WotC. I have all the books (or most of them) and would love to run again. I ran mostly Dark Conspiracy and Star Frontiers in Alternity, and played in Star*Drive. Just recenly I played in a Gamma World Alternity game, ran by one of the most vocal supporters of Alternity, Neil Spicer.
I had plans for Alternity for a long time. But then d20 came along and that's where I put my energies.
I am diving back into Alternity - this time Star*Drive setting. I have always wanted to start a campaign in this setting. I have a group that is interested in playing so we're going ot try it out. As I have gotten more and more into the Star*Drive campaign setting, I have liked it more and more. I have bought some of the novels and am diving deep into the setting. We'll see how it goes....
We have decided to change to True20 for this campaign. Playing in the short period of time we have, we seemt o have to relearn the system every night. The system also proved to be too clumky for this gorup, perhaps too old school for these young bucks. It was a worthy effort but I think True20 will be more condusive to fun for this group.It was probably partially my fault as I was not as familiar with the system as I should be.
