Human Nature and Tribes

Why is human nature so LAZY!

A radio host here has crusading since he has been on the air against something called the "jersey" people wear in politics. What that means is that people attach themselves to a specific "jersey" i.e. team instead of thinking of themselves, picking candidates based on issues and voting intelligently. People will vote the "R jersey" despite a candidates stance or vote on certain non-"R jersey" issues. Like one republican here voted for the recent bail outs, the prescription drug programs and other not-so-conservative issues, but people still stick with her. He finds that in excusable.

His crusade in truth is against human nature and that's very hard to fight. For as long as time has been recorded, it has been human nature to gather into groups of like minds, call them tribes, groups, parties or teams. Political parties are just another tribe.  But why?  The answer to that is another issue with human nature.

Laziness!

It takes work to think for oneself, especially when it has to do with politics and making the hard decisions that have to do with running our country.  Too many people are simply apathetic to politics (the ultimate in laziness).  While others want to at least give an effort but still are too lazy to think for themselves.  So they let the group mind think for the - the tribe mind.  If they say they are a Republican, then they have to be like me, right? Again, just another stage of human laziness.

So this radio guy has a daunting task.  To change human nature is not going to be easy.
